Position Title: Chamber Concierge
Location: Welcome Center, 696 1st Avenue, East Ellijay, GA 30540
Reporting Manager: President
Status: Full-time
General Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm
Position Description: The Chamber Concierge is at the forefront of welcoming visitors and providing them with exceptional assistance and information to enhance their experience. This position serves as a knowledgeable resource, offering insights into local attractions, events, dining options, and accommodations, ensuring visitors leave with unforgettable memories of their time in our community. In addition, this role ensures that our office runs smoothly.
Responsibilities
In general, primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Welcoming and greeting visitors to the Welcome Center with enthusiasm and warmth.
- Providing personalized assistance to visitors by answering inquiries, offering recommendations, and providing directions to local points of interest.
- Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of local attractions, events, businesses, and services to effectively guide visitors.
- Distributing informational materials, maps, and brochures to visitors, ensuring they have access to relevant resources.
- Ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the Welcome Center's facility and displays.
- Uphold the values and mission of the Gilmer Chamber of Commerce, promoting the town as a desirable destination for visitors.
- Handling inquiries and requests via phone, email, and in-person with professionalism and efficiency.
Daily responsibilities include:
- Opening and closing the Welcome Center M-F.
- Ensure copier paper is stocked.
- Make coffee.
- Distribute mail.
- Check all brochures and information displays in the outside box and inside area and refill as needed.
- Check emails and answer or forward them to appropriate staff.
- Greet all with a smile via walk-in or on the phone. Answer questions and provide appropriate information.
- Record payments in A/R log.
Additional responsibilities on an as-needed basis:
- Maintain Lobby when needed.
- Stuff and mail out A/P checks.
- Respond to relocation requests.
- Make copies of any brochures that we provide and any in house brochures to be folded.
- Make calls or send emails to members when low on brochures.
- Prepare “get well” or “sympathy” cards as needed.
- Assist with mass mailings for events and/or chamber communications.
- Assist Chamber staff as needed with various correspondence or errands.
- Scan and record files for digital conversion.
- Create mailing labels for birthdays, prepare for signatures, and mail out on appropriate date.
- Pull any brochures or business cards of dropped members and give to Membership Manager for follow up.
- Order office supplies.
- Coordinate conference room reservations and assist with set-up.
- Organize Chamber promotional benefits.
- Organize and send monthly Board reports.
- Ensure building maintenance is performed on schedule.
- Management of building security system, internet, and phones.
- Manage office cleaning and grounds keepers.
- Monitor dumpster.
- Coordinate staff birthdays and Employee of the Month.
- Manage committee members.
- Other duties as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proficiency in technology usage, such as the internet, and Microsoft Suite. Ability to learn new software quickly.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of customer service principles.
- Ability to lift objects weighing approximately 25 lbs.
- Excellent driving record and willingness to drive locally to handle small errands (mileage will be reimbursed at IRS rate)
- Basic knowledge of our local region, including major attractions, destinations, history, and natural resources
