About

Appalachian CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, serves Fannin, Gilmer and Pickens Counties by recruiting, screening, training, and supporting CASA volunteers who advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in juvenile dependency court proceedings. Our trained volunteers are appointed by a juvenile court judge, gather information about the child's case, attend all court proceedings, give an independent report to the judge in the best interests of the child, and have time to give to the child since each volunteer handles only one or two cases at a time.
