As we move into February in Ellijay, our streams and rivers up here in the southern Appalachia’s should become the coldest of the year. Extreme cold water and trout usually do not go hand in hand very well. What I mean by that statement is trout simply slowdown in everything they do.
The Internationally televised, Emmy-nominated television show, Fishing University, that filmed here in the late Fall, will air that episode featuring Ellijay and the surrounding area next month. The show features not only the lake, but local dining, activities and attractions.

Georgia’s DH season begins November 1st, and continues through May 14th. The DH sections of these waters are marked with signage. During the DH season, anglers must release all trout immediately, and use and possess only artificial lures with one single hook per lure.
