SUMMARY:HerWorld (Corporate Outreach Opportunity)
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce the 6th Annual HerWorld Conference presented \nby DeVry University and their dedicated sponsors. The full day sessions \nwill give high school students the opportunity to meet other young women\n their age\, work with their peers in team-building exercises\, set \npersonal goals\, and learn about exciting career opportunities in a \nvariety of fields. \n\nDeveloped by DeVry University\, HerWorld \nintroduces young women to the breadth of career opportunities available \nin business and technology. Consistent with the ongoing statewide \nemphasis on attracting individuals into non-traditional careers\, this \nprogram has been developed to complement these efforts.\n\nWe are \nexcited to announce the 6th Annual HerWorld Conference presented by \nDeVry University and their dedicated sponsors. The full day sessions \nwill give high school students the opportunity to meet other young women\n their age\, work with their peers in team-building exercises\, set \npersonal goals\, and learn about exciting career opportunities in a \nvariety of fields. \n\nThe conference will be held on Tuesday\, \nDecember 7\, 2010 at the Denver Merchandise Mart. The event has been a \ngreat success over the years reaching up to and over 500 attendees. \nDeVry University will be providing the venue\, lunch and transportation \nfor the young women. We are also looking for business partners for this \nevent. Currently we have needs in two areas:\n\n• Business Partners to provide science and technology related workshops. In the past some of the workshops included:\n\n1. Challenger – Students were able to try on space gear and hear firsthand about space missions. \n2.\n Build your own Simon Game – presented by Sparkfun Electronics\, the \nstudents were able to work hands on to assemble an electronic game \n(including soldering). \n3. Heartlab – The Denver Museum of Nature and Science donated animal hearts for the students to dissect. \n4. CSI Crimelab – Students were able to perform hands on forensic testing and investigations. \n\n•\n Contributing Sponsors who may be able to provide us with in-kind \ndonations to be used as door prizes and/or promotional materials for \nboth the young women in attendance and the educators who will be in \nattendance. Some of the donated items last year included: gift \nbaskets\, blankets\, sweatshirts\, gift cards\, school supplies\, various \nmiscellaneous giveaways and a computer. \n\nIt is our intention \nthat HerWorld continue to be presented annually to the benefit of young \nwomen in Colorado. Our sponsors and supporters will have the \nopportunity for long-term affiliation with this important event.
