Event Description:
Dr. John Kay, President Emeritus and founding chairman of the Byron Herbert Reece Society, will be the speaker for the GIlmer County Genealogical Society, Inc. monthly meeting on Thursday, November 8. The Byron Herbert Reece Society was founded in 2003 and Dr. Kay has worked tirelessly to preserve the legacy and farm of poet/author Byron Herbert Reece (1917-1958.) Byron Reece authored 4 books and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and earned 2 Guggenheim Awards. The BHR Farm and Heritage Center is a cultural experience for students of all ages and is located in Blairsville near Vogel State Park.
