Event Description:
On Thursday, July 19, at 6:00 p.m., our own Wayne Hooper will be presenting “Coosa and Coosawattee,” a program about the people of the “Coosa Kingdom,” the last of the advanced temple mound building cultures in Northwest Georgia.  These people controlled the “Great Valley” trade routes and villages between Tennessee and Alabama, and their artifacts show trade between tribes on the Gulf and Atlantic Coast.  Mr. Hooper will speak on these people as described in 1540 by the conquistador Hernando de Soto.  The presentation will include local artifacts as well as archaeological and written historical information about this lost culture.
